ABSTRACT: The study was undertaken to investigate the Effect of Whatsapp on the academic performance of business education students. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. The study employed a descriptive research design. The population of the study comprised of 247 business education students and 100 were randomly selected and used as samples for the study. The instrument that was used for the study was a set of 30 structured questionnaires which were validated by the supervisor and one other expert. The reliability of the instrument was designed using the test-retest method and the reliability coefficient value of 0.86 was obtained. The research design used for the study is the descriptive research design. The copies of the questionnaires were administered personally by the researcher and with the help of research assistants, the questionnaire items were analyzed using frequencies and percentages. The findings revealed that students are experiencing challenges in using Whatsapp for their academic work. It was also revealed that Whatsapp is not responsible for their poor academic performance since they use it to share academic knowledge and information among themselves. The researcher recommended that both governments, communities, and school administrators should help to reduce the challenges faced by the student in the use of Whatsapp in the school environment.Keywords: WhatsApp social media, business education students, & academic performance.Objectives of the studyThe main purpose of this study is to determine the Effect of Whatsapp social network on the academic performance of business education student.Specially, it is to ascertain: 1.
