Organizations are operating in a complex and competitive business environment and with an efficient and effective work force to keep them in the competition. The environment of manufacturing firm these days are becoming more dangerous and hazardous to health due to both the chemical substances, machine and equipment, plant layout, work process, constant exposure to light and other harmful substances and improper use of safety protecting equipment and misused of working tools. Despite several studies conducted to examine the relationship between safety climate and organisational performances, studies examining the relationships between health and safety and employees performance in manufacturing firms have been limited. This study therefore examined the impact of health and safety on employees’ performance. The study was carried out among the manufacturing companies in the Sunyani Municipality. The study was descriptive and employed the mixed method. A total of 120 employees and the Human Resource Managers were sampled using simple random and purposive sampling respectively from Yedent Group of Companies and Yabs Crystals Mineral Water Company to participate in the study. The results from the study revealed a moderate health and safety practices in the manufacturing companies, and was significantly related to employee performance (p-value = 0.057). The study concludes among others that manufacturing industries in the Bono Region fairly practice health and safety but some key HS practices are left out due to some challenges. The study therefore recommends that manufacturing companies in the Bono Region have to take advantage to get the best out of their employee to improve productivity through effective implementation of HS policies.
