ABSTRACTFamily planning enhances efforts to improve family health. However, traditional beliefs, religious barriers, misconceptions and the lack of male involvement have weakened family planning interventions. The purpose of this dissertation was to identify factors influencing family planning utilization among women in their reproductive age in the Asokore Mampong Municipal. This study was a quantitative descriptive cross sectional study. Structured questionnaire was used as the data collection tool for the study. The questionnaire was structured based on the specific objectives stated and it consisted of both open and close ended questions. The data collection was done using the local language and English when deemed appropriate and this was done throughout the data collection period. The questionnaire was issued and translated into the local language and the respondents were assisted in ticking the right answer. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23 and Microsoft Excel (2016) were used as the data analysis tools. Data collected from the respondents, were presented using Microsoft Excel version 2016. Ninety-four percent (94%) of the respondents had knowledge of contraceptives with only 27.5% using contraceptives. Almost 59% of the respondents affirmed their religion hindered the practice of family planning. Eighty-one percent (81%) also indicated their partners did not support their practice of family planning. Service related factors seemed to be really minimal as 88% of the providers hardly had shortage of commodities. Socio-economic factors was the deepest root yet to be uprooted in efforts to make women in their reproductive age use family planning services. Faith was the major hindrance with partner support and lack of funds also playing supporting roles. Efforts of publicizing family planning and its benefits needs to be intensified since not all are knowledgeable about the existence of family planning services and its benefits
