This study examines the effectiveness of internal auditing in disaster management organizations in selected metropolitan assemblies in the western north region of Ghana. The study used purposive sampling to select 72 NADMO staff to respond to surveys that were divided into two parts, focusing on demographic information and the effectiveness of internal auditing. The study found that management's support for internal auditing, management's assessment of its usefulness, internal auditing's organizational autonomy, the availability of skilled internal auditing personnel, and the presence of an internal auditing charter that has been approved were all essential elements to internal auditing's success. The study also identified compliance auditing as the most popular audit service in Ghana and analyzed the additional benefits that internal auditing provides to the company to evaluate its efficiency. The studyconcludes that internal auditing can play a crucial role in disaster management organizations by identifying instances of non-compliance with workplace guidelines and rules and contributes to public workplaces. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for disaster management organizations in Ghana and potentially for similar organizations in other countries.
