The purpose of the study was to assess the effect of financial control practices on the financial performance of Senior high schools in the western North Region. The quantitative data were gathered from 47 staff of the Senior high schools in the western North Region using survey questionnaires. The study employed the purposive sampling technique in selecting the respondents. The descriptive survey design was used. The partial least squares structural equation modelling technique was used to analyse the main objectives of this study using SMART PLS version 3.3. The major findings of the study were: Control activities have significant effect on financial performance; Risk assessment have significant effect on financial performance; and Control environment have significant effect on financial performance;. Based on the findings, it was concluded that financial control practices enhance the financial performance of secondary schools in the Western North. It is recommended that, Headmasters in charge of Senior High Schools in the Western North Region must highly prioritize the formulation, implementation and monitoring of financial control mechanisms in their schools.
