This study aimed to undertake a comparative assessment of how training transfer inputs, namely trainee characteristics, workplace environment, and training design, impact on job performance of locally-trained and foreign-trained Ghanaian employees in the Bono region. A quantitative research approach with a positivist philosophy was employed, using questionnaires to collect data from 327 employees drawn from the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani Technical University, and the Catholic University of Ghana. Hypothesis testing and analysis using general model univariate techniques. The study found significant positive correlations between job performance and all three factors for both locally-trained and foreign-trained employees, indicating their crucial role in determining job performance. Trainee characteristics significantly predicted job performance (p < .001), explaining 55.7% of the variance. Similarly, workplace environment (p < .001) and training design (p < .001) significantly influenced job performance, explaining 65.6% and 73.0% of the variance, respectively. Despite these significant correlations, no significant differences were found between the influence of these factors on job performance for locally-trained and foreign-trained employees. While subtle differences exist in the specific aspects of workplace environment and training design perceived as more or less supportive by each group, the overall impact of these factors on job performance remains consistent. The study concludes that a holistic approach to training, considering trainee characteristics, workplace environment, and training design, is crucial for maximizing job performance in the Bono region. Recommendations include assessing and developing trainee characteristics, fostering supportive work environments, optimizing training design, and implementing continuous evaluation and improvement strategies
