LITERATURE REVIEW ON SICKLE CELLSickle cell disease is a genetically passed down blood disorder that affects hemoglobin, the molecule in the red blood cells that delivers oxygen to cells throughout the body. The disease occurs when a person inherits two abnormal copies of the hemoglobin gene, one from each parent. The disorder is associated with typical hemoglobin molecules called hemoglobin S, which can distort the red blood cells into a sickle or crescent shape.
