Baby was admitted into the ward per his mother’s back. On admission, baby was seen to be lethargic, coughing, warm to touch, he was having difficulty in breathing and chest indrawing.HISTORY OF THE CHILD Mother complained of child having fever, coughing, difficulty in breathing and the chest going inwardly when he breath for the past three days. Mother said she thought all these could be as a result of child teething so she gave the child Teedar syrup when the fever started.Mother is having two children of which Yussif is the second born, he was born per spontaneous vagina delivery and that there were no concerns during his developmental stages. According to yussif’s weighing card he has then not completed all his vaccines that he was to take in the first year of life. The mother sells tomatoes in the market. According to his mother, Yussif has ever been admitted to the hospital when he was 6month old.THE CONDITION(S) AND DIAGNOSISYussif was diagnosed with SEPSIS secondary to Bronchopneumonia base on the following laboratory investigations: RDT: Negative, WBC: 23.2×10gl, Granulocytes: 88.4%, HBG:11.7g/dl and Platelets:204×10glEXAMINE THE CHILDOn assessment, patient had the following parameters: temperature:39.6˚C, but he had already been given suppository paracetamol 125mg at the out-patient department.His weight was 9.6kg, pulse rate: 182bpm, respiration rate:88cpm and SPO2:88%.
