ABSTRACT Effective communication plays a vital role in the achievement of organizational goals. On the other hand, poor communication can bring down the organization's progress. Using communication as a tool for improving organizational performance has been researched by many researchers leaving a lot of material in the literature around it. As a result, this study sought to assess communication as a tool for improving organizational performance to confirm what was found by others. A simple random sampling procedure was adopted with a sample size of sixty-two (62) respondents comprising both male and female staff of different departments in different Districts of the Electoral Commission in the Bono Region. A quantitative method was employed using a questionnaire guide as the main instrument for data collection. Descriptive statistics, including frequencies and percentages, were used in analyzing data. Findings from the study revealed that effective communication as a tool for improving organizational performance is highly valued in organizations, as indicated by the employees of the Electoral Commission of Bono Region. Again, the study found out that there are some challenges associated with communication at the electoral Commission. These challenges include language barriers, cultural differences among workers, information overload, lack of source familiarity or credibility, and wrong communications technology. These challenges sometimes act as an obstacle to the achievement of organizational goals. Therefore, the study recommends that management should always be proactive regarding communication issues so that they will not negatively affect the employees' performance.
