ABSTRACTThe aim of the study was to investigate into the stakeholder engagement practices adopted on Aya Community Centre Project. The aim was anchored on four broad objectives set out namely: to determine the key project stakeholders for the Aya community centre project, to determine the stakeholder engagement practices adopted at the various phases of the project, to determine challenges with the stakeholder engagement practices adopted and to recommend improvements in stakeholder engagement practices adopted on community centre projects in Ghana. These objectives were achieved through the deployment of a well-organized literature review which helped in designing an organized interview guide administered to the four stakeholders. The qualitative method was thus used in the study. The responses were retrieved and analysis and discussions were done on them through thematic analysis of the interview data. The thematic matrix analysis clearly indicated that, the key stakeholders were the Project Manager, the Office of the Member of Parliament, the Leader of the Aged Group and the Traditional Authority anchored on a participatory stakeholder engagement practice from the initiation phase throughout the project. In addition, competing priorities and political linkage to the project were some challenges encountered while the responses pointed to the need for a national policy on the aged in Ghana. Further studies can be conducted in the area of the effectiveness of the stakeholder engagement practices on similar project.
